A Vietnam Airlines flight from the UK's Heathrow to HCM City had to make an emergency landing in Dubai to seek hospital treatment for a passenger. Illustrative photo.
According to the airline, the flight departed from Heathrow Airport at 5 pm on July 15 (local time), but a passenger suddenly developed health problems some seven hours after that. The crew and a passenger who was a doctor gave the patient first aid, but her condition did not improve.
The crew asked for permission to make an emergency landing at the Dubai Airport and landed there at 8.55 am on July 16 (local time) to leave the ill passenger to access medical treatment.
The passenger, a 36-year-old French woman, improved after receiving treatment in Dubai.
The flight then continued and landed in HCM City at 5.43 pm, over five hours later than scheduled.
