The province held the Son La Cultural and Tourism Festival, Son Tra Flower Festival, Plum Festival and an off-road motor race in Van Ho District.

There are over 600 tourism accommodation establishments in Son La, including eight hotels rated three stars or above, with the remainder mainly homestays.

Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Deputy Director Tran Xuan Viet said that the province was striving to improve its tourism sector. Travel firms have been encouraged to co-operate with tourism sites to provide services to customers.
