This is part of Dong Hoi Airport’s development plan for 2030 with a vision until 2025 approved by the Ministry of Transport.

Under the plan, the airport would serve three million passengers by 2030 and the figure would rise to five million passengers by 2050.
The site clearance of the project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2024. The project also includes the expansion of the aircraft stand area.
The Ministry of Transport has asked the authorities of Quang Binh to closely work with the Ministry of Defence and other concerned agencies to quickly hand over 10.6 hectares of military land for the project.
The province has been urged to ratify financial support for the site clearance and create favourable conditions for the Airports Corporation of Vietnam to carry out the project.
