According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), the incident occurred on the evening of June 27 while the Airbus A321 was carrying 214 passengers from Incheon City to Phu Quoc. Warnings indicated there was something wrong with the engines.

The pilot had asked for permission to make an emergency landing at the Laoag International Airport in the Filipino northern province of Ilocos Norte, CAAV said.

The plane then safely landed at the Laoag International Airport.

Vietjet has sent another plane to Laoag International Airport to take the passengers to Phu Quoc on June 28.

Authorities are further investigating the incident.
