Dantri/DTiNews readers have donated around VND5.30 billion (USD225,531) to Bui Van Duc in the central province of Nghe An.
The donation came after an article about Bui Van Duc’s condition was published in the Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper. Duc was a 12th-grade student from Nghi Loc 2 High School.
Duc’s parents divorced ten years ago. Since then, his younger brother has been living with his mother; meanwhile, he has been staying with his father. His mother is struggling with breast cancer.
Two years ago, his father Bui Van Tao, 47, was diagnosed with mouth cancer. He had to experience great pain caused by tumours in his mouth. Due to the family’s financial difficulties, he refused treatment and returned home. The disease became more serious and he died on May 28.
Duc's father died from mouth cancer in May.
Meanwhile, Duc also faced kidney problems and thyroid cancer, but his family could not afford the treatment.
The only mainstay for Duc is his paternal parents who are very poor.
Many donors have helped Duc with donations of VND5.30 billion.
