The northern and central regions of Vietnam have experienced consecutive heat waves with the highest temperatures of 40 degrees centigrade.

In May, the province received 627,000 visitors, up 25 percent against April, including 316,000 visitors to Sapa.

Sapa’s average temperature is around 27 degrees centigrade. Mount Fansipan’s temperature is around 15-20 degrees centigrade, with the mild weather attracting tourists during the heat wave.

Sapa has held many cultural festivals to attract tourists

Nguyen Van Dat, director of BestPrice Travel, said that Sapa is among Vietnam’s most popular destinations, ranking alongside Cat Ba, Danang and Nha Trang. His firm has witnessed a surge of tours to Sapa, mostly people from the southern region of Vietnam.

Since March, Sapa has held many cultural festivals, including the Rose Festival which saw the participation of hundreds of artists.

Many activities to mark the anniversary of Buddha's 2,567th birth early this month were also held in Sapa.

Tourists to Sapa have been forecasted to continue rising until the end of this summer with a range of cultural events to be launched.

Sun World Fansipan Legend is offering half-price tickets to Mount Fansipan for groups of at least 10 students from the same school.
