A decision signed by Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha on June 7 said that the country would have 30 airports including 14 international and 16 domestic airports by 2030.
From now to 2030, the country will have eight new airports including Long Thanh, Lai Chau, Sapa, Na San, Quang Tri, Phan Thiet, Thanh Son, and Bien Hoa.
Three more airports will be built by 2050 including Haiphong, Cao Bang, and one in Hanoi.
There will be logistics, plane repair and flight training centres arranged in appropriate areas.
The plan by 2030 is estimated to cost about VND420 trillion (USD17.88 million) which will be sourced from the state budget and other sources.
According to the plan, some 97 percent of the population live within 100 kilometres from at least one airport.
