The number of new Covid-19 infections continued to fall in Vietnam with 1.952 cases recorded on Sunday, down 852 cases from the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, the national caseload has so far increased to over 11.57 million. The country now stands 13th among 230 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On May 7, an additional 738 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.62 million. Currently, 75 patients are relying on mechanical ventilation.
On Sunday evening, no deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, the second case in the past four months. The country's total fatalities stayed at over 43,190, accounting for 0.40 percent of total infections.
Vietnam has injected nearly 266 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The Ministry of Health plans to continue to promote COVID-19 vaccination, especially for high-risk cases, children from five to under 12 years old, those in big cities and areas regarded as key tourism spots with high number of international visitors.
