Dao Ngoc Dao and her husband Dang Ba Tung live in an old small house with their two sons in Nhon Ai Commune, Phong Dien District.
The couple, who are in their late forties, are facing lots of difficulties taking care of their two sons Dang Ngoc Minh Tan, 12 and Dang Ngoc Minh Hung, 10, who were born with disabilities.
The mother said that both of her sons were born with ailing limbs that they cannot walk. She has brought them to various hospitals to seek treatment but their conditions haven't improved.
"We've had to spend all our savings to cover treatment for them," she said. "I've had to stay home to take care of them for the past 12 years while the family depends on the modest income of my husband who is a construction worker. Meanwhile, the children need constant medicine."
Everyday Dao takes her sons to school and does housework.
"Luckily both of them did very well at school," the mother said. "Although life was very difficult, we really want them to continue their studies."
Headmaster of Nhon Ai 2 Primary School, Bui Van Hoang, said that Minh Tan and Minh Hung are very hard working at school and they're both good at maths.
"We've always created the best conditions for Minh Tan and Minh Hung, including presenting textbooks and scholarships to encourage them to study," the teacher said.
Chairman of Nhon Ai Commune People's Committee, Nguyen Quoc Khanh, said that local authorities have provided some support for the two children but they need more aid to continue medical treatment.
