Pavements in Hoang Mai District have been used for business activities and many pavements have become illegal parking areas.
Luu Bach Kiem, 61, a local resident, said most of the pavements around Linh Dam Lake have been encroached used for parking every day so he has to walk on the road. In many cases, cars are double parked, affecting traffic.

“The situation has been going on around Linh Dam Lake for many years due to the lack of parking space in the area,” Kiem added.
Illegal parking and business services on the pavement are even more rampant in the area near the densely-populated HH Linh Dam Apartment Complex, particularly on Nguyen Phan Chanh Street.
Authorities in Hoang Liet Ward have planned to use stakes and draw lines to mark prohibited pavements on local streets next week.
The ward has proposed Hoang Mai District licence more parking lots.
HH Linh Dam Complex is home to 12 apartment buildings with a total of around 9,000 apartments. The area’s total population is 37,000 people. This is one of the most densely populated areas in Hanoi, but the apartment buildings lack sufficient parking space for cars.
