Visitors to Sapa forecasted to surge on national holidays

Sapa Town in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai has been forecasted to welcome between180,000-200,000 tourists during the coming Reunification Day and International Labour Day holidays.

Sapa Town in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai has been forecasted to welcome between180,000-200,000 tourists during the coming Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labour Day (May 1) holidays.

Sapa welcomed only 98,000 travellers during the same period last year.

According to Hoang Thi Vuong, head of Sapa Town’s Tourism Information Board, the locality’s room coverage rate on the April 30 and May 1 holidays would be around 98 percent.

Sapa will hold many activities over the holiday period. From April 26-May 3, a rose festival will be organised at Sun World Fasipan tourist site. This is the second event of its kind held in Sapa.

The Dao Ethnic Culture Festival will take place on April 29-30, offering visitors a chance to enjoy Dao cuisine and fashion shows.

Meanwhile, the Mong Cat Cat Village Cultural Day will be held from April 30 and May 2.

Bao Yen District will have various activities for visitors, including folk games and a food festival.

Local authorities have instructed the management of tourism activities during the holidays to prevent overcharging and ensure traffic.
