Head of Son Tay Town’s socio-economic board Phung Huy Vinh said that the agency was co-operating with the Hanoi Fisheries Sub-Department and the Indo-Myanmar Conservation Organisation’s Asian Turtle Programme to investigate the cause of the turtle death.

Previous tests showed that the turtle at Dong Mo Lake belonged to the species as the turtle in Hoan Kiem Lake which died in 2016 due to old age.

The Hoan Kiem Lake turtle was estimated to have lived for around 200 years.
