Dak Ha District People's Committee on Sunday announced that the local military command had safely removed a bomb from the Dak Hring Spring which was found by local people.

"The bomb, which was left from the American War, was over a metre in length and weighed 200 kilos," the committee said. "After finding that the bomb still had the detonator, we've put up warning signs to prevent people from entering the area while removing it from the site and handling it in accordance with protocols."

Three people were killed and two others seriously injured on March 25 after a warhead exploded in Dak Ha's Dak Long Commune.

The tragic accident occurred after A Nhi, 24, brought home an old warhead he found on a neighbour’s farm. Nhi used a hoe to cut the warhead, which was left from the war, and it suddenly exploded, killing him and injuring four others including his wife, their four-year-old son, and two other local children. Their son and another child then died shortly after from serious injuries.
