The boy sent his sincere thanks to Dantri Newspaper, local authorities, and kind donors for supporting his family. He said that he has also received VND600 million which readers sent to his bank account.
"We'll put the donated money into a savings account," Hien said. "Phu Tho police have also said they would build a new house for us. Thank you so much."
Party Secretary of Cam Khe District People's Committee, Nguyen Manh Hung, said that he was very moved when seeing the poor brothers receive so much love. He hoped that the family would plan to make the best use of the donations.
Hien, 21, is the eldest brother and he has three small siblings. His father died last month after some years of struggling with liver cancer but didn't receive proper treatment. His mother died from a stroke just five days after his father's death. The young man now cares for three younger brothers, the youngest of which is just five. The family incurred debts of over VND90 million from his late father’s cancer treatment.
