Hanoi People’s Committee has approved a housing development plan for the 2021- 2025 period. Under the plan, the city aims to raise the average housing floor area per person to 29.5 square metres.

During the phase, the city would spend around VND437 trillion for housing development, including VND5.8 trillion to be sourced from the city’s budget. Of the figure, VND12.5 trillion will be for social housing projects and VND9.5 trillion will be for resettlement housing projects.
The city will also use VND641.3 billion on upgrading and rebuilding old apartments.
The city will try to complete 109 commercial housing projects with a total of 19.4 million square metres between 2021 and 2025.
The city will also try to remove makeshift houses and increase the permanent housing rate to 90 percent.
