The investor of the Evason Ana Mandara Nha Trang Resort, which covers over 28,000 square metres of land as well as 10,000 square metres of sea surface, has started removing their facilities to return the area to local authorities.

The water area to be recovered from the Nha Trang Gulf is located in the Bai Duong area of Loc Tho Ward, which was previously leased to Sovico Khanh Hoa Co. Ltd. as a private beach for tourists of the resort.

Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee decided to resume control of the beaches in 2017 after the 22-year lease agreement had expired, and the Sovico Khanh Hoa Company expressed willingness to return the property.

It is considered part of the province’s bid to protect its maritime environment and elevate the status of Nha Trang Gulf, one of the most revered beaches in the world.

A representative from the resort's investor, Sovico Company, said that they had stopped receiving guests from June 2022 to prepare for the relocation to Bai Dai Island in Cam Ranh following requirements from Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee.

"We're removing two villas near Tran Phu Street first," Sovico said. "We'll try to speed up the work but also have to ensure safety for workers, local residents and tourists."

Many Nha Trang residents and visitors previously complained about Ana Mandara’s decision to block off the beach.

In May 2015, the management of Evason Ana Mandara was fined VND30 million by Nha Trang authorities for their unlawful blockage of the Nha Trang Beach.
