Vietnamese airports have served 19.7 million passengers so far this year, up 91.5 percent on-year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Of the figure, foreign travellers accounted for 4.70 million, up 1,959 percent on-year and domestic passengers made up 14.80 million, up 48 percent.

During the period, Vietnamese airports served 78,800 flights, up 62.3 percent on-year.

Meanwhile, cargo transportation at Vietnamese airports reached 168,000 tonnes in the first two months, down 28.2 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that the Vietnamese aviation market had gradually recovered after being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The International Air Transport Association has predicted that Vietnam's airports will handle a total of 80 million passengers and 1.4 million tonnes of cargo this year, up 45 percent and 15 percent year-on-year, respectively.
