Nguyen Tuong Vi, 4, and her younger brother Nguyen Tien Dat, 2, are living with their elderly grandparents in Doan Hung District after their parents died in a traffic accident last year.

The elderly couple who are poor and weak are struggling to support the two small children as their parents didn't have any savings.

After their story was shared on Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper, many people sent money to help them.

A representative from the newspaper visited the family on February 14 and transferred VND 268,445,799 which readers sent to the newspaper's charity fund to help them.

Receiving the money, the grandmother, Pham Thi Minh, said that she was very moved when receiving lots of care and support from the newspaper and kind donors for them.

"I've also received some VND30 million which donors sent directly to my family," she shared. I want to send our sincere thanks to the newspapers and all the kind donors for your valuable support. We'll use the money to raise our grandchildren."

Attending the event, Secretary of Doan Hung District Party Committee, Le Van Phuong, also sent his thanks to Dantri Newspaper and donors for helping the family.

"We hope that this support will help the family overcome their difficulties and the children will have a better life," he said.
