

Despite the cold weather, many visit Bach Mai Hospital early in the morning on Wednesday for medical check-ups. Most of them are old people who have respiratory and heart diseases as well as problems related to their bones and joints.

Children are also vulnerable due to the sudden weather changes. Nguyen Van Quyet from Ung Hoa District, Hanoi, said that his three children had to go to hospital due to coughs and fever.

The General Outpatient Clinics of the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital is receiving hundreds of patients daily, with those struggling with respiratory problems accounting for the majority.


According to doctors, the sharp temperature drop had a bad impact on children, particularly those aged below two.


The abrupt weather changes have also hit old people, especially those with heart problems, high blood pressure and diabetes.
The northern region of Vietnam is experiencing a cold wave which is forecasted to last until February 18.
