Gas cylinder explodes on ship in Quang Ninh, injuring eight

A sudden gas cylinder explosion occurred on a ship which was being repaired in the northern province of Quang Ninh, injuring eight workers.

The incident occurred at around 8:45 am this morning when the vessel Oriental Glory was being repaired at Nosco Shipyard. The ship belongs to the Hanoi-based Phuong Dong Shipping and Trading JS Company.

The gas cylinder explosion affected eight workers from Nosco ShipYard aged between 34 and 47.

Right after the incident Cao Tuong Huy, the Managing Chairman of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee instructed local concerned agencies to investigate the cause of the explosion.

The eight victims are being treated at Vietnam-Thuy Dien Hospital.
