The northern region faces a strong cold spell ahead of Tet Holiday

The centre warned that temperatures in the region could further drop this evening to 9-12 degrees in lowland provinces and 6-9 degrees in mountainous areas. And some mountainous areas may see temperatures plunge to below 3 degrees, and frost and snowfall could appear.


According to the centre, the severe cold weather will last through January 18, with the highest temperature ranging around 14-16 degrees during daytime. Rains and fogs may come from January 19 to January 23.

The cold snap will also affect the northern central provinces from Monday evening with temperatures falling to between 11-14 degrees.


It is forecasted that cold weather will last through the 2023 Tet Lunar New Year Holiday with highest temperatures at 17-22°C.
