A high-speed ship in Phu Quoc
Since Thursday evening, Phu Quoc Island has been facing strong winds. According to the Hydrometeorological Observatory - Southern Region, the island would continue struggling with violent winds with waves of 2-3 metres high, in the next 24 hours.
Express boat operators have contacted their passengers to offer ticket refunds or other trips.
Tuan added that the boats from Rach Gia and Ha Tien to Phu Quoc and Nam Du would be resumed when weather conditions improved.
Strong winds also led to the suspension of high-speed boat services to Phu Quoc on December 18. Many flights to the island were also affected, causing losses of around VND2 billion (USD84,745).
