But sleeper buses would be permitted to operate on those roads without any restriction on their way to the new Mien Dong (Eastern) Bus Station in Thu Duc City and Mien Tay (Western) Bus Station in Binh Tan District on fixed routes regulated by the Transport Department.

The HCM City Department of Transport previously proposed the ban from December 15, 2022. However, the committee asked the department to seek the opinions of different agencies, including the Department of Justice before resubmitting it.

HCM City is home to five inter-provincial bus stations with 767 routes to 57 cities and provinces nationwide.

The Department of Transport reported that as many as 76 spots in HCM City operate as illegal passenger pick-up and drop-off points.
