
Construction on 12 sub-projects of a mega project to build the eastern section of the North-South Expressway in the 2021-2025 period will be kicked off on January 1.
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang has signed a decision to start work on the sub-projects that cover a total length of 723.7 kilometres across Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Hau Giang and Ca Mau provinces.
The sub-projects cost VND147 trillion (USD6.27 billion) and are divided into the three sections of Ha Tinh-Quang Tri (260.9 kilometres), Quang Ngai-Nha Trang (352.06 kilometres) and Can Tho-Ca Mau (110.9 kilometres).
To date, around 70 percent of cleared sites have been handed over. Meanwhile, Quang Tri and Phu Yen provinces are quickening the site clearance for their handover.
