Pham Thi Buoi, 36, in Tam Ky City’s An Phu Ward, is suffering from congenital blindness. She has been recently diagnosed with heart problems and rheumatoid arthritis.

Buoi said that her husband Doan Xi was also blind. The two meet each other when working at a massage centre for the blind.
Early last year, Xi died in a traffic accident. This was a great shock to Buoi, causing her health to worsen. So, she has mostly stayed at home.
Since Buoi’s husband died, her eldest child Pham Doan Thi Diem, 13, is her mainstay. The young girl helps to take care of her mother and brother.
The family mostly lives on a monthly subsidy of less than VND1 million (USD42), while the An Phu Ward Women's Union also gives Diem VND300,000.
Buoi often faces great pain due to rheumatoid arthritis but she can’t afford the treatment.
Nguyen Van Tri, chairman of An Phu Ward, said that Buoi’s family was among the poorest in the locality. He hoped that through Dantri/DTiNews, the family would receive support from the public.
