The Yen Vien-Cai Lan railway project

The Lim-Pha Lai railway section is one part of the railway project linking Hanoi’s Yen Vien Railway Station and Cai Lan Port in the northern province of Quang Ninh. The 131-kilometre project also travels through two neighbouring provinces of Bac Ninh and Hai Duong.

The Ha Long-Cai Lan section has already been put into use, while work on the three remaining sections of Yen Vien-Lim, Pha Lai-Ha Long, and Lim-Pha Lai has been sluggish owing to capital difficulties.

Around 35.3 kilometres of the Lim-Pha Lai section pass through Bac Ninh. According to Bac Ninh authorities, the section needs to be built elevated to avoid conflicting with local urban planning.
