The Dao Ngoc-Ngu Xa night food street is part of Hanoi’s project to develop pedestrian areas around Truc Bach Lake. It covers around 4.5 hectares.
The project is scheduled to be put into use before the coming New Year.
Work on the pedestrian area has been hastened in recent days.
Construction of the central stage is underway.
Many stone chairs have been placed in the area.
Part of Truc Bach Street has been covered with canvases to ease the environmental pollution.
The Truc Bach pedestrian and food area will occupy the seven streets of Ngu Xa, Tran Te Xuong, Nguyen Khac Hieu, Mac Dinh Chi, Nam Trang, Lac Chinh, and Tran Vu.
Many cultural and art street activities will be held in the area at weekends or through festivals.
The pavement of Lac Chinh is being repaired.
Ngo Thi Huong, a local resident, said that she strongly supports the project to diversify the city’s cultural activities. This will help to attract more tourists.
The installation of the lighting system and welcome gate will be carried out soon.
