People have flocked to beaches in Loc Ha District to catch fish over the past recent days. They were divided into groups to support one another.
This time of the year, the yellow croaker often comes near the shore, offering them a good chance for big catches.
Duong Thanh, 55, from Thinh Loc Commune, has gone fishing with his group from early morning to late afternoon these days in an area some 500 metres from the shore. They caught four tonnes of yellow croaker. Their entire catch was sold to traders on the day.
Each kilo of yellow croaker is priced at VND50,000 (USD2), meaning that each member of Thanh’s group earned VND1-2 million a day.
Fishermen also caught other kinds of fish, including tuna, sardines and blue fish.
Duong An, 52, from Thinh Loc Commune and another local fisherman caught 200 kilos of fish after around five hours. They earned VND6 million.
