Storm Nesat, the sixth major storm of the year, is heading to Paracel Islands after entering the East Sea, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
By early this morning, the storm was around 720 kilometres northeast of the Paracels with the highest wind power of 103-133km/hour.
In the next 48-72 hours, the typhoon would mainly move west with a speed of 10-15 km/hour. It will then move west-northwest between 72-120 hours to come and then weaken into a tropical low-pressure front.
The area near the Paracel Islands would see violent winds.
North of the Spratly Islands will experience heavy downpours and strong winds.
The northern part of the East Sea would also have rough seas with waves of 5-7 metres.
