The dismantlement started this morning, October 14. The floating restaurants are located in the area of Nhat Tan Ward.

Cranes were sent to the site to salvage metal from the vessels managed by the West Lake Yacht Ltd. Co.

Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, chairman of the district People’s Committee, said local authorities have worked out a plan for dismantling the boats. Items which are disassembled will be handed over to the firm. If they refuse to accept them, the authorities will legally deal with the waste.

The dismantlement is scheduled to be finished in December.

Fences have been installed in the area to ensure safety during the work implementation.
The floating restaurants and cruise boats, which have been suspended since early 2017, have seriously deteriorated. They occupy thousands of square metres of the water surface near Nhat Chieu Street. In the area, many canoes, boats and floats have also been left to rot.
