A 30-year-old woman in HCM City who is taking care of her child at Children's Hospital 2, said that her newborn baby’s condition had quite quickly worsened.
Initially, the baby faced a light cough and then just some hours later, she faced breathing difficulties. She immediately took her child to a nearby hospital. However, due to the serious condition, the child was moved to Children’s Hospital 2 and was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Children's Hospital 2’s Emergency Department is full of patients with many having to use oxygen.
According to Doctor Nguyen Hoang Phong, head of the hospital’s Emergency Department, they had increased the number of beds as this season saw rising patients with respiratory diseases.
Phong added that on October 12, the hospital’s Respiratory Disease Ward 1 had 258 patients, up by around 100 from the previous week. The figure would be higher this weekend.
“The ward has served up to 350 patients, which has put immense pressure on medical staff,” Phong said.
Currently, Children's Hospital 2 is receiving 7,000 children who use outpatient services, of which 20-30 percent have suffered from respiratory problems. Around 6,500 patients are also being treated as outpatients at Children’s Hospital 1.
Doctors warned that children with underlying medical conditions are more vulnerable to health problems when seasons change.
