The move started on September 28 and is scheduled to end on October 5 with the participation of 400 local police and military officers.

The gold mines are located in Noong Heo and Nam Cuoi communes in Sin Ho District and Vang San Commune and Nam Kha A area in Muong Te District.

Pham Hai Dang, deputy director of the provincial police department cooperated with the local military to survey mines that could be demolished with explosives.

Many trees have been cut down and a large area of land has been dug up for gold mining. The nearby stream has also become polluted due to gold panning.

The central province of Quang Nam decided to spend VND20 billion (USD862,068) to tackle violations at Bong Mieu Gold Mine between 2022 and 2024. This is aimed to protect untapped gold resources, prevent illegal gold mining, and maintain security and order as well as environmental protection in the area.
