Dantri/DTiNews readers have donated VND212 million to two children who are struggling with brain atrophy in the northern province of Bac Kan.

The donations came after an article about their condition was published in the newspaper.

Five years ago, Hoang Van Sa, 31, and Nong Thi Trieu, 25, from Cho Moi District’s Mai Lap Commune had their first daughter Ha Quynh Nhu who was as healthy as other children of her age. But, gradually, she showed unusual signs of development such as slow growth and flabby body, and was diagnosed with congenital brain atrophy.

The two children are facing brain atrophy

When Nhu was more than four years old, the couple had their second child Ha Van Dung who was born in the 31st week of pregnancy. Born prematurely, Dung was very weak and sadly he was also diagnosed with brain atrophy like his sister.

The mother fell into depression and even thought of committing suicide. However, she tried to overcome this state because of her children.

After the article was published in the newspaper, many people donated money to the family.

The family were presented with the money on Monday.
