Storm Noru has weakened into a tropical depression, bringing about torrential rain in the central region and many northern localities in Vietnam.

Storm Noru made landfall in the central region of Vietnam early Wednesday, affecting Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces.

It then weakened into a tropical depression. The storm has been forecasted to move west at a speed of 20-25 kilometres per hour and continued weakening when entering Thailand.

Due to the typhoon’s impacts, localities from Quang Binh to Thua Thien-Hue are facing rainfall of up to 70 mm. The rain would decrease from midnight Wednesday.

The rain has expanded to many northern localities and will last until Thursday. Coastal northern localities would see rainfall of 70-180mm.

On September 28-30, rivers from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri would see flooding, particularly on the Ngan Pho, Ca and Ngan Sau rivers.

Warnings of flash floods and landslides have been issued for low and mountainous areas from Thanh Hoa to Kon Tum.
