Since the beginning of this year, the National Children’s Hospital in Hanoi received 1,406 Adenovirus patients, including up to 1,316 cases between August and September 21. Among those, 811 children had to stay at the hospital for treatment, leaving seven fatalities.

The number of children affected by Adenovirus has sharply increased in Vietnam since August
The hospital has arranged 300 sick beds for Adenovirus treatment. All Adenovirus patients are arranged in a separate area.
According to doctors, children affected by Adenovirus often display the symptoms of high fever, cough, and wheezing, which may be accompanied by conjunctivitis and digestive disorders. Those with more serious symptoms face difficulty breathing.
Adenovirus-infected children have underlying medical conditions or symptoms such as difficulty breathing, respiratory failure, severe vomiting and lung damage, and need to be hospitalised.
The Ministry of Health has asked localities and hospitals nationwide to tighten measures on Adenovirus prevention and control.
Hospitals have been instructed to ensure isolation for Adenovirus patients.
