According to the ministry's report, the national caseload has so far increased to 11,454,079.

On September 16, an additional 59,923 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.50 million.

On Friday evening, five deaths from Covid-19 were recorded, raising the country's total fatalities to 43,137, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections.

By September 16, the country had injected nearly 259 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 13 chaired a meeting of the national steering committee for Covid-19 prevention and control, highlighting the importance of issuing the Government’s Resolution 128 on making Vietnam’s response to the pandemic more flexible. He said it was key to the work and to socio-economic recovery and development.
