According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the passenger smoked on a flight from Hanoi to HCM City before its departure at 4:35 pm on August 1.

After being detected, he was quickly expelled from the plane. the Northern Airports Authority then issued an administrative fine against him a day later.

Despite being reminded several times, he still refused to pay the fine.

Vietnamese and foreign airlines have been asked not to serve him during the banned time.

In August, a 23-year-old man was also prohibited from flights for nine months for failing to pay a fine on a flight from HCM City to Hanoi.

Under the Law on Civil Aviation of Vietnam, people caught smoking on a plane will be fined VND3-5 million. They have to pay the fine within ten days after the fine is imposed.
