Binh Duong launches pedestrian street by Saigon River

The southern province of Binh Duong today, September 2, put its first pedestrian street project into use which is located by the Saigon River.

Construction on the VND650 billion (USD28 million) one-kilometre street started in August 2017.

The investment is sourced from the state budget, including VND434 billion for construction, and the remainder for site clearance and compensation.

The street starts from the crossroads of Bach Dang and Ngo Quyen running along the Saigon River and ending at the junction of Huynh Van Cu and Nguyen Van Cu.

The project was initially scheduled to be completed in 2020, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the work only finished now.

The street will help to ease traffic pressure on nearby Huynh Van Cu Street.

The project also includes a park with a modern lighting system, cultural and entertainment areas and places for stalls, including food and souvenirs.

Binh Duong has also planned to open another three-kilometre pedestrian street from Thu Dau Mot City to Thuan An City.
