According to the Ministry of Health, between January and August this year, Vietnam reported 165,844 dengue fever cases, including 62 fatalities.

A dengue fever in Hanoi


Between July 19 and August 18 alone, Vietnam witnessed 62,411 new dengue fever patients, up 12,600 from the month before. During this phase, the country saw 25 dengue fever deaths, up 17 from the previous month.

The number of people taken to hospital in Hanoi due to dengue fever also increased. At present, the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases is providing treatment for 30 dengue fever cases, including 10 in critical condition.

A number of patients have been hospitalised with symptoms including breathing difficulties, lung damage, and blood clotting disorders.

Dengue fever patients are advised not to self-treat. Instead, they must seek advice from medical professionals.

The Ministry of Health also reported that in the January-August period, Vietnam recorded 44,337 foot, hand, and mouth disease cases, including two deaths.
