
The three-day event started at Vietnam Quoc Tu Pagoda on August 18.

The ceremony saw the participation of Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, the Acting Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Most Venerable Thich Le Trang, head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in HCM City, said that it has been a year since HCM City was hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim was to ease the sorrows of the bereaved families and call on people to build a better Ho Chi Minh City and country.


Hundreds of Buddhist followers joined the ceremony. Relatives of many victims also participated in the event.

It is reported that over 20,000 people died from Covid-19 in HCM City in 2021

Lots of people stood outside the pagoda for the commemoration.

Ngo Ngoc Le from District 10 said that after the 20-day treatment at Thu Duc District, her husband died from Covid-19 on August 12 last year.
