The shop owner Nguyen Cong Dung failed to show the papers showing the origin of the cakes. Each cake is sold for VND2,500 (8.2 cents).

Dung admitted that he bought the cakes to meet the rising demand as the Mid-Autumn Festival nears despite them lacking clear origin.

"I just bought the cakes and had sold none of them," Dung added.

Local authorities have revoked the entire batch for further investigation.
