According to the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, by the end of August 12, Hoa Binh Province had reported three deaths and two missing, Phu Tho confirmed one death, while Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang each reported one missing.

"Most of the victims drowned and went missing while travelling in flash floods," the committee said.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that the northern region and the north-central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An continued to see heavy rains from Friday evening until early Saturday morning. Some areas recorded high level of rainfalls between 7pm on August 12 to 3am on August 13 included Nghe An Province's Quy Hop District (87.00 mm), Nghe An Province's Dien Chau District (79.20 mm), and Ha Giang Province's Na Chi Commune (44.80mm).
It is forecasted that heavy rains will continue in the area with average rainfall of between 10-30mm. Rainy weather would continue until August 16. Flash floods and landslides may occur in mountainous areas.
