The rains have been caused by a low tropical depression in the East Sea which has developed into Storm Mulan.
Many local districts, including Chu Pah, Ia Grai, Chu Prong, Chu Se, Duc Co, Chu Puh and Krong Pa have witnessed rainfall of 70-150mm per hour. Warnings of thunderstorms and whirlwinds have also been issued for the province.
By mid-Tuesday, heavy rains had damaged 142 hectares of crops in Phu Thien District and 71.1 hectares in Ayun Pa Town. As many as 125 houses in Chu Prong District have been flooded by at least 20 cm. The flooding of the Ba River would continue rising, exceeding warning levels by 0.7-1 metres.
