A 5,000-square-metre factory in Quang Minh Industrial Zone in Hanoi's Me Linh District was burnt down in a large fire that lasted four hours on Monday morning.

According to a report from local police, the fire broke out at 7 am at the Milestone Company factory that produced and stored plastic products. Smoke could be seen rising tens of metres from the factory's metal-sheet roofs.

Some 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines were sent to the site who faced difficulties in accessing the fire due to the huge amount of smoke.

The fire was brought under control at 10.30 am. The factory was heavily damaged as the roofs collapsed and all the products and equipment were destroyed. Luckily there was no loss of life.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
