
The northern mountainous province of Lao Cai saw heavy rain on the evening of August 4 with average rainfall recorded from 6-9 pm ranging from 30-50mm. Some areas reported higher rainfall including Sa Pa Town with 76.20mm, and Lao Cai City with 81.80mm.

Many streets in Lao Cai City including Vo Nguyen Giap, Tran Hung Dao, Hoang Lien, Soi Tien, Minh Khai, Ngo Quyen, and Le Thanh were deeply submerged.

Cars and motorbikes broke down in the flooded streets and had to be rescued.

Hundreds of houses were also deeply flooded.

Heavy rains together with strong winds uprooted many trees on Ham Nghi Street and Thang Binh Park.

Lao Cai authorities have directed concerned agencies and local people to quickly repair the damage and prepare for more rains in the days to come.
