A cruise ship to Ha Long Bay
General Director of Tan Hong Travel Company, Phan Xuan Anh said that a cruise ship will take a group of international visitors who are mostly French tourists to Ha Long Bay and some other localities in Vietnam in October.
"We're expecting to receive more visitors via local seaports next year which is the peak tourism season for cruise ships," Anh said.
However, director of Quang Ninh Provincial Tourism Department, Pham Ngoc Thuy, said that the number of tourists arriving by cruise ships would fall if China continues their Zero Covid-19 policy.
"We're receiving cruise ships coming from Hainan and Hong Kong, and from ASEAN countries including Singapore and the Philippines," he explained. " China accounts for 70 percent of the number of ships."
Statistics from the department show that before the Covid-19 pandemic, Ha Long received some 100 cruise ships annually with between 150,000-180,000 tourists.
Ha Long International Port, which was put into operation in 2018, can serve two cruise ships with 8,460 visitors at a time.
