Phan Tran Van Huy, chairman of Song Cau Town’s People’s Committee, said that a 20-year-old man from Gia Lai Province suddenly slipped and then fell into the stream at around 4 pm on Saturday while taking photographs at the Bin Nin Stream dam area.
At that time, two other young men who were his friends and were on the same sightseeing tour, quickly jumped into the water to save him. However, all of their attempts failed due to the swift-flowing stream.
Several local residents jumped into the water to rescue the three. However, only one of them survived, while the two others died later despite being provided with artificial respiration.
Binh Nin dam area is some nine kilometres from National Highway 1 and is home to many large rocks. It attracts many visitors.
