Construction on a dormitory at Binh Chuan Primary School in Con Cuong District’s Binh Chuan Commune was started on Tuesday, July 19. The VND800 million (USD34,482) project will create rooms for students, with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An Province contributing VND150 million.

Pham Xuan Manh, chairman of Binh Chuan, said that the locality is a remote area, around 40 kilometres from the district centre. The Thai ethnic group accounts for 98.9 percent of the local population.
Binh Chuan Primary School has three branches with a total of 402 students who live around 10 kilometres from the school.
After the dormitory construction is completed the school has decided to merge two branches in Tong and Que villages.
At the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy Editor-in-chief of the newspaper Nguyen Xuan Toan said that since 2009, Dantri/DTiNews has helped to construct 25 bridges and 43 schools in disadvantaged areas nationwide. In the first six months of this year, donors contributed VND32 billion through the newspaper.
Nguyen Dinh Hung, party secretary of Con Cuong District, expected that the locality would receive more assistance from donors.
