Over the past two weeks, the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases has served nearly 100 people who came for medical checks due to having influenza type A symptoms.

Bach Mai Hospital’s Outpatient Department recently received nearly 20 influenza type A patients from an industrial park in Hanoi’s Dong Anh District.
The cases aged between 20-30 faced headaches, fevers and tiredness. Just one day later, 10 children who were relatives were taken to the hospital because of the same symptoms.
According to Doctor Van Dinh Trang, head of the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases’ Microbiology and Molecular Biology Department, up to 60 percent out of 100 samples sent to the hospital lately have tested positive for influenza type A. Some patients have to use a ventilator for their worsened conditions, including a 78-year-old woman in Chuong My District.
Old people, children aged below five and those face a higher risk of getting more serious conditions which can lead to death when contracting the disease.
People are advised to take vaccination against influenza type A annually to avoid complications. They also should also come to see doctors early.
