A passenger died after a tourist boat collided with a tender in Lan Ha Bay on June 19.
According to a report from Hai Phong City Border Guard Station, the accident occurred when the Hong Van 89 boat carrying 49 tourists collided with a tender carrying 12 others in Cat Ba Island at 9.15 am on June 19.
The tender sank quickly following the collision. Tourists on the Hong Van 89 boat immediately threw down lifebuoys to passengers of the sinking tender.
Receiving news about the incident, Hai Phong City Border Guard Station sent rescue teams to the area and safely brought 11 passengers of the tender ashore.
However, a female tourist went missing, with her body was then found at 12.24 pm the same day. She was identified as Bui Thi, 68, who comes from Hoa Binh Province.
Police are further investigating the cause of the incident.
